Shoes Like Pottery

Shoes Like Pottery – The beauty of simplicity.
Shoes Like Pottery is a Japanese shoe brand that stands out in today's sneaker world for its clarity, precision craftsmanship, and cultural depth. Created in Kurume, a region with centuries of tradition in rubber and textile craftsmanship, the shoes are manufactured by the renowned manufacturer Moonstar – a factory that has been producing shoes since 1873. Shoes Like Pottery is therefore not just a brand, but an expression of Japanese craftsmanship, in which perfection, patience, and dedication are core values.
Clean lines, classic designs, and natural materials create a simple, timeless aesthetic. Instead of trends, the brand focuses on authenticity and durability. Fashion should accompany, not dominate.
Shoes Like Pottery are produced using the traditional Ka-Ryu method, a vulcanization process that only a handful of manufacturers worldwide have mastered. Each shoe is “fired” in a kiln, similar to ceramics. This firing process causes the sulfur contained in the raw rubber to react, giving the sole its exceptional elasticity, stability, and durability. The upper material, made of sturdy canvas, is sewn by hand. Each step of the process bears the signature of experienced craftsmen whose knowledge and precision have been passed down through generations, true to the Japanese ethos of “Monozukuri” – the art of manufacturing.
A characteristic feature of Shoes Like Pottery is the distinctive blue sole. Most models also feature a blue wax stamp on the heel, symbolizing the individuality of each pair and the connection to the traditional art of pottery from which the brand derives its name.
