CROOTS-England. Bringing back a classic.

In a special cooperation with Frans Boone Store, from Sluis, The Netherlands Croots – England is bringing back a classic first introduced nearly 40 years ago: The Sportsman holdall. The first ever Canvas bag made by the founders John & Margaret Smith in 1978. Back then made from the original Royal Mail Bag canvas. Today Croots used a very densely woven canvas fabric made by Limonta in Italy. Leather trims are made from Chromexcel leather by Horween of Chicago. High quality swiss made polished zippers by RiRi. Solid brass metal ware made in the UK. Fully lined with red heavy cotton twill lining. Proudly made in Yorkshire. All photos courtesy of Frans Boone.

For 2014 Croots will introduce a small range of bags and leathergoods made in Horween’s iconic Chromexcel leather.

Chromexcel is the original pull-up leather; using time honored techniques and formulas that were developed nearly 100 years ago. Chromexcel is still produced in the United States using a bark retannage from a proprietary recipe, and then genuine hot stuffed with our secret blend of natural oils and greases.

Chromexcel is characterized by a rich pull-up in full aniline, hand rubbed finishes. Made to this day with old world craftsmanship, modern Chromexcel carries on a long history of superior comfort and durability.

The range includes a duffle bag in the right size for your weekend travels or the visit to the gym, a Tote bag as your ideal everyday carry companion or shopping aid, a shoulder bag and a small range of handy and practical smaller items such as an Ipad and Ipad mini case, an Iphone case, a sunglass case, a credit card or business card holder, luggage tag and a key chain.
